Notes: John Lucius Dampier (1793-1853) was the second son of Sir Henry Dampier, a Queens Bench Judge. He became a Fellow at King’s College, Cambridge in 1815, where he was awarded his MA in 1819. He had been admitted to Lincoln’s Inn at the age of 24 in 1817 and was called to the bar in May 1919. He was Recorder of Portsmouth Quarter Sessions, 1829-1838 and Vice-Warden of the Stannary Courts of Cornwall and Devon 1836–1853.
