Notes: 16th-century calf; blind-tooled fillets in panel design, with gold-tooled corner fleurons and centrepiece perhaps in silver, now tarnished to black; spine with four raised and two half bands, with gold- (and silver?-)tooled fleurons; fragments of manuscript on vellum (in Latin, 16th?-century hand). Elaborate (and undeciphered) monogram on title-page, in an early hand. Inscription of Thomas James, 1597, with his motto, on title-page.
